Fourteen Vandalism Charges Against Fairey Dismissed

Shepard Fairey, best known for his iconic Obama image shown below, was recently arrested on suspicion of posting stickers and other materials around Boston during a recent visit.

I’ve always been interested in the dynamic surrounding graffiti art.  There are artists out there who are clearly talented but don’t have access to conventional venues so in order to display their work they choose public spaces that are often privately owned.

I’m torn about the issue because although I enjoy (the good examples) of graffiti art, I certainly don’t advocate vandalism; but it seems that it is inevitable that graffiti art and a level of criminality go hand in hand.
